Today we went to the Catacombs, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Spanish Steps. The Catacombs were a huge underground burial site for Christians . There are at least 7 in Rome, and the one we went in had over 11 miles of graves. The Christians put pictures on their grave stones because most of them could not read. One picture that is frequently used is an anchor because in it is a hidden cross. If you cover up the hooked part at the bottom, the top looks like a cross. Another symbol is a fish. In the Roman language, the first two letters of the word fish were the same first two letters in the name Christ.

Unfortunately, they would not let us take pictures in the Catacombs, but here are some pictures that I pulled off the internet.
After the Catacombs, our camera ran out of batteries, but tomorrow we will get pictures of the other places we went to today.
